Allardyce staying grounded

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce is not going to make any snap judgments based on Saturday's 1-0 win over Everton. Nikola Kalinic took advantage of a mistake from Toffees goalkeeper Tim Howard to grab the only goal. But while victory over a full-strength Everton side was impressive, Allardyce is not changing his targets for the season. "I think our expectations are about focusing on the first 10 games," he told the club's website. "For me, hopefully, it's about controlling the players and making sure they stay focused for the next game. "We go and play at Birmingham, who beat us last year comfortably at their place 2-1. So we've got to see if we can go and improve there now and try to get a result. "As the games tick by, you start to get a sense or a feeling that things are either going to be better than last year or going to be a little bit more of a struggle."
