The pair fell out when the striker told Allardyce he wanted to leave the club for pastures new.
He ended up staying after Blackburn received no bids for his services and now Allardyce could turn to the 32-year-old to help his side climb out of the bottom three.
Allardyce said: "The disappointing thing for Jason was nobody bid for him, which was surprising for a player of his capabilities.
"We didn't particularly love each other when he said he wanted to go and I said he could. It never happened.
"I thought it would be a done deal but it wasn't.
"When January comes around, we will look at the situation.
"It depends what Jason does between now and then."
