Allardyce - Rovers are progressing

Sam Allardyce is confident Blackburn are on the up after Jason Roberts handed him victory on his return to Newcastle. It was the first time Allardyce had taken his team back to St James' Park since he was unceremoniously shown the door by the Magpies after just eight months in January 2008. But it was he who emerged with all three points thanks to Rovers' sixth successive victory over his former club after his game-plan worked to perfection in a 2-1 win. Allardyce said: "It was a fantastic victory for us, a really pleasing one for us all and one I think in the end, we deserved. "It's our first back-to-back wins. We finished 10th in the Premier League last year and only won three games away from home. "We have already won two now - we have won at Blackpool and we have won here - it's our first back-to-back wins of the season, which is far quicker than we did last season, so it shows we are progressing."
