Allardyce plays down takeover talk

Blackburn boss Sam Allardyce has dismissed any chance of a takeover being completed in time to help him in the current transfer window. Indian businessman Ahasan Ali Syed is the latest in a number of potential new owners to express an interest in the Ewood Park outfit. With funds now limited, the Jack Walker Trustees are willing to discuss a sale, which would clear Rovers' £20million debt and provide investment for transfers. As Allardyce is yet to make a signing this summer - although he has secured a number of his established squad on new contracts - the cash would be very handy. However, the Rovers chief does not feel there is any chance of it making a difference this month. "The new investment is not going to arrive before the transfer window is shut," he said. "That is probably certain now. Anybody who's going to be interested, and if it is going to happen, it is not going to be between now and August 31."
