Allardyce plans busy summer

Sam Allardyce is keen to add 'four or five' players to his Blackburn squad during the transfer window. Allardyce has ruled out a major overhaul but he accepts that he will have to do some business if Rovers are to improve on a season that has seen them flirt with relegation. The experienced tactician recognises that it will be particularly difficult to spend big money this summer but he is looking forward to wheeling and dealing. "While we are all affected by the worldwide financial crisis, we are protected somewhat by the fact that we are in the Premier League," he explained. "It will be a busy summer as we are going through a transitional period with players coming and going. "Perhaps four or five players would be sufficient provided they are of the right quality. It is about getting a bigger and better squad for next season. "It is nice to start planning, knowing where we are going to be now our safety has been secured." Tugay tributeAndre Ooijer and Carlos Villanueva will both be leaving Ewood Park at the end of the season, while experienced midfielder Tugay is also departing after eight years with the club. The popular Turk is expected to call time on his career and Allardyce believes it will be an emotional farewell when he faces West Brom on Sunday. Allardyce said: "Tugay will play, no doubt about that, given his form in the last few games. I am sure he will get a fantastic send-off by the supporters. "He has had a great eight years and if there was to be a testimonial I would be in full support of that."
