Allardyce hoping to avoid end of season scrap

Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce is calling on his players to build up a head of steam when they return from a break in Dubai. Allardyce is keen for his team to secure their Barclays Premier League status in the next few weeks. Blackburn moved on to 31 points - and closer to safety - by beating Hull 1-0 at Ewood Park on Wednesday night. With matches against Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal still to come, Allardyce does not want his nerves to be frayed near the end of the campaign. He said: "We will have a little break, recharge our batteries and push on from here. We deserve to get away from this freezing weather and get some sun on our backs as we've had nine games in 28 days. "We have got some big teams later on so we want to get the points in the bag as soon as we can. I think we play some good stuff. Very rarely do we play long-ball but that's what people tag me with. Perhaps we deserve a bit more credit."
