Blackburn press officer Paul Agnew has played down reports he could be installed as the club's new chairman.
The 53-year-old has flown out to India to meet the club's owners, Venky's, but insists the discussions will be about his current role and communication with the fans.
Asked about the speculation that he could replace John Williams in the vacant chairman's role, he told the Lancashire Telegraph: "I'm in the dark over where that came from. It seemed to come from a number of different sources, but nothing has ever been mentioned directly to me."
He added: "But if there is to be a restructuring of the club or whatever, I'm willing to discuss any role they may have in mind.
"Anything that is in the best interests of Blackburn Rovers, I will do."
Manager Steve Kean travels to Pune regularly to meet the owners, and Agnew is happy to do the same as he attempts to get their message across.
He said: "I have championed the cause for making sure the communications are bob on because I think that is critical - internal communication at Ewood, communication between the owners and Ewood, communication with the fans.
"I'm just keen that we get the messages across. There has been a lot of uncertainty, because perhaps the messages haven't been properly understood.
"I feel very privileged to have the opportunity go over there and meet them face to face, and try to bring that a full understanding of what their vision for the club is.
"I think it's important there is this contact."
