Yeung to launch Brady battle

27 Oct 2009 - 08:47:56

New Birmingham City owner Carson Yeung and his representatives are reportedly ready to take legal action in an attempt to block former managing director Karren Brady's severance package.

Brady, who left St Andrew's earlier this month after spending 16 years with the Blues, is guaranteed to collect a minimum of £700,000 over the next 12 months under the terms of her departure, but Yeung believes that amount is excessive.

Brady will be handed a further £260,000 if City retain their Premier League status this season and has a long list of benefits at St Andrew's for the next 12 months, including a company car and private health insurance for her and her family.

When asked about the matter, a representative from the club would only say: "This matter is in the hands of our lawyers."

David Sullivan, the former plc chairman, and Brady had previously criticised Yeung for his aborted takeover two years ago, while the Hong Kong businessman recently claimed that Sullivan had "pushed" him into trying to buy the club in 2007 against his wishes.
