Taylor pens Blues deal
06 Apr 2007 - 15:43:26
Birmingham City defender Martin Taylor has penned a new long-term contract that will keep him at St Andrew's until the end of the 2009-10 campaign.
The 27-year-old has played a key role in the Blues' promotion push this term and has now made 64 League appearances for Steve Bruce's side since joining the club from Blackburn Rovers in a £1.25million deal in February 2004.
"Tiny has signed a three-year deal with a two-year option and he fully deserves it," Bruce told City's official website.
"He's done well over the last few years for us and, as a player and a pro, he never causes you any grief as a manager.
"When we were in the Premiership he was frustrated because Cunningham and Upson played so well, but he waited for his chance and he's had an excellent season this year.
"He is an excellent footballer and good on the floor and in the air, and of course he's added that extra resilience to his game. If they were all like him my job would be simple."
