Scotland international James McFadden targets Birmingham City return in March after cruciate injury

Birmingham City's Scotland international striker James McFadden is targeting a March return to action from cruciate knee ligament surgery. McFadden, 27, was originally expected to be ruled out for the rest of the season after rupturing knee ligaments while training in September. But his progress has been rapid and manager Alex McLeish is optimistic that McFadden will now be ready for the end of season run-in. True Blue: James McFadden was expected to miss the whole season with cruciate ligament damage McLeish said: 'His cruciate ligament injury is healing well. His fitness is tremendous and he has worked really hard with our physio, George Cooper. George has given him one to one attention every day. 'But it doesn't matter how fit his body is the healing process of a cruciate takes quite a long time and it will probably be towards the end of February going into March before he regains his full fitness.'   Bowyer faces FA probe over vicious stamp on Arsenal defender SagnaThe Midlander: Winter of discontent beckons for Birmingham CityBlackpool v BIRMINGHAM: Alex McLeish considering changes to Blues teamAll the latest Birmingham news, features and opinion  Explore more:People: James McFadden, Alex McLeish Places: Scotland
