Rock-bottom Ipswich hand dreaded vote of confidence to under-fire Keane
Roy Keane has been given a vote of confidence by Ipswich. The club slipped to the bottom of the Championship on Tuesday after Keane saw his side fail to win at the 10th attempt as they drew 3-3 at Sheffield United. Although Ipswich fans and Keane himself have already speculated that his stint at Portman Road could be cut short, chief executive Simon Clegg insisted the former Sunderland manager’s job is safe. ‘Nothing has changed,’ said Clegg. ‘We still have absolute confidence in Roy and believe he is the right man for the job.’ Birmingham manager Alex McLeish has also been assured that his job will be safe when Hong Kong businessman Carson Yeung completes his takeover of the club. Yeung said: ‘We would like to keep the takeover smooth. We will keep the current manager and try to do our best for the club.
