Birmingham City have completed a double deal by securing the services of Aston Villa defender Liam Ridgewell for a £2million fee.
The 23-year-old former England Under-21 international has signed a three-year contract at St Andrew's, with an option for a further two years.
He becomes the first player to make the crosstown switch from Villa to the Blues in over 20 years, but isn't too worried about that fact.
Ridgewell told his new club's official website: "It's about football. I just want to get on and play my football and it doesn't really come into it.
"I'm looking forward to working with Steve Bruce. He is a good manager and he has done a lot in his career as a centre-half, so that's a lot to look up to.
"Playing for so many years at Manchester United you can't go wrong and I'm sure I'll learn a lot from him, because I am still young and making my way in the game."
Ridgewell had been with Villa for six years and was approaching the 100-appearance mark, having scored seven goals for the Villa Park outfit.
