Phillips facing lengthy absence

Birmingham City striker Kevin Phillips is facing a "considerable period" on the sidelines after tearing his thigh muscle in a friendly on Saturday.Phillips suffered the injury after coming on as a second half substitute in the friendly against Real Mallorca. The 37-year-old signed a one-year contract extension in June to keep him at St Andrew's until 2011. "Kevin will be out for a while - it will be a considerable period," said Birmingham manager Alex McLeish. Phillips featured in 24 games.... read more
