Pardew pleased to draw Blues test

Saints have been handed a home tie against newly-promoted Birmingham in a repeat of last season's second round, when the Blues were sent packing 2-0 at St Mary's. "It's always good to be at home but Birmingham City will be a big test for us so early in the season," said Pardew. "They had a fantastic campaign last season and will be really motivated to get off to a good start this time round when the Premier League kicks off this weekend. "We are keen to put on a good show in all competitions this season and the fact we were able to knock them out at this stage last year is hopefully a good omen."
