Oh Boyd! Birmingham boss finally has cash to net 3m Rangers striker Kris

Rangers striker Kris Boyd will be on his way to Birmingham City in January following the takeover at St Andrew's by Hong Kong-based businessman Carson Yeung. Blues boss Alex McLeish has been promised funds in the next transfer window to secure City's Premier League status and can now meet the £3million asking price from Rangers and pay the player the £20,000-a-week wages he wants. McLeish, who was Boyd's manager with Rangers and Scotland, tried to sign him at the start of this year but did not have the finance. A pretty penny: Kris Boyd (centre) is set to demand £20,000-a-week wages But with the 26-year-old out of contract at Ibrox in the summer, Rangers will be happy with a realistic price. Boyd was the top scorer in the SPL last season but controversially retired from international football after falling out with Scotland manager George Burley.  Arsenal 3 Birmingham 1: Gunners in seventh heaven as run continuesBirmingham bonanza: Yeung promises to splash out £80m on transfersBIRMINGHAM CITY FC
