Murphy keen to prove his worth
03 Aug 2010 - 11:22:00
Left-back David Murphy is determined to forge a future with Birmingham City after seeing serious injury ruin the start to his St Andrew's career.
The 26-year-old joined the Blues in January 2008 for £1.5million from Hibernian, but has not featured at all since April 2009 after sustaining a broken knee-cap.
However, Murphy has shown up well in the build-up to the new season and is hopeful of impressing manager Alex McLeish enough to return to the first-team reckoning.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "I feel fully fit, I feel fully sharp. I feel as if I'm ready to go.
"It's up to the manager what team he picks, who he picks and what happens in the transfer market. I can't do anything about that.
"All I can do is perform every day in training and when I'm on the pitch. I think I have done that this pre-season."
