McSheffrey impresses Bruce
21 Sep 2006 - 11:21:27
Birmingham's multi-million pound signing Gary McSheffrey earned high praise from City boss Steve Bruce after his double strike in the Carling Cup win at home to Wrexham.
McSheffrey had previously failed to find the net in five appearances for the Blues, but Bruce is more than happy with the winger's contribution since his arrival from Coventry City.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "Gary has given us everything I thought he would do since he joined us.
"He provides you with that dimension where he wants to score a goal and that's the pleasing thing for me from a wide area. That's why we chased and chased him.
"He's very unselfish, works hard for the team and has a great attitude for it. That was his seventh assist, the cross for our first goal. And we think he is only going to get better.
"He is very popular, fantastic in the dressing room. He is just starting to find himself as he's only been here four or five weeks."
