McLeish sings Bowyer's praises
13 Dec 2009 - 11:51:10
Birmingham City midfielder Lee Bowyer took the plaudits after his latest goal earned the Blues a 1-0 win at home to one of his former clubs, West Ham United.
The 31-year-old left the Hammers in January to head to St Andrew's and netted his third winning goal in four games for the Blues on Saturday.
Afterwards. City boss Alex McLeish said: "Lee's exceeded my expectations and he's been given a new lease of life. He's enjoying himself and we're getting the rewards on the field.
"It's difficult to put a price on what his goals are worth to us. He looks an absolute bargain now.
"When we signed him from West Ham, he had had a couple of injuries and wasn't playing regularly. Things weren't right for him.
"But what would he be worth now? The goals he's got have been winning goals and it's difficult to put a price on what they'd be worth to us if we manage to stay in the Premier League."
