McLeish looks for scores on the doors

City's current forward duo of Cameron Jerome and Christian Benitez have both only netted once this season - in the 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield earlier this month. Birmingham have managed just 11 goals in 13 league games with only bottom-placed Portsmouth having found the net on less occasions. But manager McLeish has confidence in his defence to ensure Blues will still obtain enough points to cling on to their top flight status. He said: "If Cameron and Christian were able to get double figures apiece we would be all right in this league, no doubt about it. "But, if they don't, then we showed last season when getting promoted from the Championship as one of the lowest goalscoring teams ever, that we were still capable of winning games. "It is based on a solid defence. We are not negative in any way. "We know it would make life easier if Christian, Cameron, Kevin (Phillips), were all amongst the goals because that is what they are paid for. "But equally the performance level has got to be good as well and they've also got to be creating chances and assisting others. "That is why in most of the recent games I've been pleased with what I've seen. They have been causing defences problems and, if they continue to play at that level, we will be okay." Birmingham have taken eight points from their last four games with Sunderland, Manchester City, Liverpool and Fulham to move clear of the relegation zone. And McLeish insists their overall performances have been satisfactory since the start of the campaign. He said: "If you were to sit down and watch every single game since the start of the season with me, you would see this team has played very well since day one in the Premier League. "The evidence is there for us to be able to continue that. There have been one or two iffy performances but, other than that, the team have been terrific. "Our consistency has been excellent but we would like some more points on the board and, at the end of the day, that is what it is all about." Wolves 11/8, Birmingham 2/1, Draw 9/4
