McLeish eyes Bowyer return

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is hopeful that midfielder Lee Bowyer will shake off a groin injury to feature against Doncaster Rovers at the weekend.

The 32-year-old, currently on loan from West Ham United, was forced to sit out the 1-1 draw with Barnsley, but McLeish believes the injury is not too serious.

He told the Birmingham Mail: "We hope that he will be back for Saturday, he had a scan and there wasn't much on it.

"He has had a wee bit of back stiffness over the past few weeks and possibly it has come from that, so he is seeing his specialist in London and we hope that he comes back with good news towards the end of the week.

"The problem is up in his abductor, at the top of his groin."
