Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has declared himself happy with this side's efforts in the season to date, but accepts that they must push on to try and secure automatic promotion.
The Blues are currently second in the Championship behind local rivals Wolves, having garnered 47 points from 23 games.
However, a 1-0 defeat at Preston North end at the weekend allowed Reading to close to within one point of the Blues and leave McLeish looking for a quick response.
He told the Birmingham Mail: "We can do better, we have to do better in the second half of the season, but the first half of the campaign I don't think we should be ashamed of at all.
"I told the lads at full-time that they can be very proud of what they've achieved.
"We would have liked to have got to 50 points, but 47 is a good return and we aim to kick on from here now."
