Key decisions infuriate McLeish
25 Mar 2010 - 11:23:09
Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish was baffled by some of referee Mark Clattenburg's decisions during his side's 2-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday.
The Blues have slipped to ninth in the Premier League table after taking only one point from their last three matches but McLeish remains pleased with his side's performances.
He said: "We totally dominated proceedings and I thought there was only going to be one winner after James (McFadden) equalised.
"We shipped in a soft goal but what annoyed me about it was the foul on Roger Johnson for the flick-on that led to the corner. (Christopher) Samba has climbed all over the top of him and how can the referee not see that?
"I felt we didn't look in any danger throughout the match. We knew the long ball and the set-pieces were always going to be a threat but I felt we were handling it well and now I'm hearing that the ball was outside the quadrant when the corner for the winning goal was taken.
"I don't know how that wasn't spotted. I've seen games recently where the referee has run over to check the ball was properly placed but how it was missed on this occasion is beyond me."
