Jaw break for Johnson

Birmingham City midfielder Damien Johnson is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking his jaw.

Johnson suffered the injury after a dreadful challenge by West Brom's Paul Robinson during the Blues' 2-0 derby victory on Saturday.

The Northern Ireland international will see a specialist on Monday to ascertain the full extent of the injury and decide whether he will need to undergo surgery.

Robinson, who was sent off for the challenge, has insisted Johnson's injury was an accident, but irate Birmingham boss Steve Bruce said: "The disappointing thing about this match was the horrific challenge on Johnson.

"When everyone sees what happened they will be appalled.

"The full-back knew what he was doing. I have a lot of admiration for him as a player but for me he knew what he was doing. That was intentional.

"We have got to stamp out this sort of thing. It was absolutely disgraceful."
