Alex Hleb has admitted he needs to alter his style of play to be successful with Birmingham City.
The former Arsenal midfielder joined the Blues on a season-long loan from Barcelona on transfer deadline day and is aware of the differences between life at St Andrew's and those two glamorous clubs.
"Of course it's different, I know that, everybody can see that it's different," Hleb told the Birmingham Mail.
"I need to accept this and try to bring my best to this team.
"It's different from Barca and Arsenal, this is a different team. Here there is not the same quality from players, people don't keep the ball as much. We need to fight for points, game to game."
The Belarus international opened his account for his new club during the 3-1 defeat of MK Dons in the Carling Cup in midweek and is delighted to be off the mark so early in his Blues career.
"It was good for me to score. We did well in the first half and scored three good goals," he continued.
"We were playing well but after that it was not so good. I don't know why, we were scared and didn't control the ball. We lost it.
"We need to learn, after this we will play against teams who are much better. But it was okay."
