Hleb and co make Blues squad cut
Alexander Hleb was one of many new faces selected in Birmingham City's 25-man squad for the 2010/11 Premier League campaign. Premier League clubs were required to select which players they wish to use in the first half of the season by 5pm on Wednesday. They were free to name up to 25 senior professionals, but at least eight of those had to adhere to 'home-grown' criteria. Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has made his choices, with the Blues now hoping to repeat their heroics from last term. Among those to make the cut are fresh faces Hleb, Ben Foster, Nikola Zigic, Matt Derbyshire and Martin Jiranek. There are also places for experienced heads such as Kevin Phillips, Maik Taylor, Barry Ferguson and Lee Bowyer. Birmingham squad: Maik Taylor, Stephen Carr, David Murphy, Lee Bowyer, Roger Johnson, Liam Ridgewell, Sebastian Larsson, Craig Gardner, Kevin Phillips, Cameron Jerome, Garry O'Connor, Barry Ferguson, Colin Doyle, Matt Derbyshire, Scott Dann, James McFadden, Miguel Madera, Keith Fahey, Nikola Zigic, Stuart Parnaby, Alexander Hleb, Jean Andre Beausejour, Ben Foster, Martin Jiranek, James O'Shea.
