Gold voices Bruce support
25 Oct 2007 - 11:19:48
Current Birmingham City chairman David Gold has urged prospective new owner Carson Yeung to make clear the future of manager Steve Bruce at St Andrew's.
Bruce has yet to be told whether he features in Yeung's long-term plans for the Blues, while the club recently rebuffed an approach from Bolton Wanderers to speak to the former Manchester United skipper about their managerial vacancy.
Gold told the Birmingham Mail: "The long-term future of Steve Bruce will be the number one priority when we hold our talks.
"Of course, we need to know how the sale of the club is progressing, but our supporters want to make sure everything is stable as far as the manager and the team are concerned.
"Everything else can follow on from that, because results are the most important thing.
"Steve's future is a major issue, but as things stand we're not exactly sure when talks will take place.
"We would have to make it clear to Mr Yeung that they do not interfere with Steve's preparations for the Wigan Athletic game."
