Gold admits Upson fears

Birmingham City chairman David Gold has hinted that the club will face a battle to keep defender Matthew Upson at St Andrew's. The former Arsenal central defender is closing in on full fitness after suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon and could even be in Blues boss Steve Bruce's first-team plans by the middle of November. However, Gold fears that if Upson starts showing the form which earned him an England call-up in the past, top-flight sides could come in for him in January's transfer window. He said: "If Matthew is playing well, then Premiership clubs will definitely show an interest."
