Injury-plagued Birmingham City striker Mikael Forssell claimed he always believed he could recapture his best form after netting a hat-trick against
Tottenham.
The Finland international, who has started just 25 league games during almost three years with the St Andrew's club, netted his first treble in English football in Saturday's 4-1 win over Spurs.
"I scored a hat-trick for Finland against Macedonia in a World Cup qualifier, but this was my first hat-trick in this country and I've been dreaming about it," he told the club's official website.
"It's been a long road, but now I'm hoping my best years are still ahead of me.
"Even during the darkest days when I wasn't playing and was put aside completely, I still believed I had it in me.
"I have learned that anything can happen in football. I love this club and feel I have unfinished business here."
Meanwhile, Forssell is hoping to sit down at the end of the season and discuss a new contract with his present deal set to expire in the summer.
"We need to see where we are in the league and hopefully we can stay in the Premier League and then I think we can start talking soon," he added.
"Obviously the key factor for everyone, the club and me, is that we stay up.
"That would be very important and I am more than happy to stay then. This is a great club."
