Carsley rejoins ambitious Sky Blues
23 Jul 2010 - 12:14:09
Former Birmingham City midfielder Lee Carsley has penned a one-year contract with Championship side Coventry City.
The 36-year-old spent more than two years with the Sky Blues between 2000 and 2002 before enjoying a six-year spell with Everton.
He moved to St Andrew's in May 2008 and featured in 48 league matches for the club before being released by Alex McLeish at the end of last season.
Coventry manager Aidy Boothroyd said of his latest acquisition: "Lee has a track record as a winner. He is a leader and has played at the highest level and knows what is required to win on a regular basis.
"Any good team needs a balance of talent, experience, physical presence, pace and, obviously, footballing ability. I want Lee to be the glue that binds the team together because he has all of those."
Botthroyd has already signed Gary McSheffrey, Roy O'Donovan, Stephen O'Halloran and Richard Keogh this summer.
