Carsley fears played down

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has played down fears that captain Lee Carsley is facing a spell on the sidelines.

The former Everton midfielder limped out of Tuesday's 2-1 victory over Ipswich Town midway through the first half with what appeared to be a thigh strain.

However McLeish said: "I'm not sure about Carsley's injury but I think it was more precautionary.

"He's been feeling his thigh for two or three days and only told me at half-time.

"Carsley's the type of guy that would go throw brick walls so we're hopeful that he'll be okay for the Wolves game this weekend, because he had a real determination in his game against Ipswich."
