Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce admitted he couldn't have predicted the Blues' 5-1 FA Cup third round replay demolition of Premiership Newcastle 'in his wildest dreams'.
The Championship leaders set up a fourth round tie with Reading, but Bruce was delighted with the manner of the performance which left the Magpies reeling at St James' Park.
"Not in my wildest dreams did I ever think the team could come here and beat Newcastle in their own back-yard 5-1," he said.
"We are absolutely delighted. We are through to the next round and we have had a really good performance and shown a nation watching that we have got some good young players - and they can get even better.
"I am a Geordie and so are my mum and dad, my mother and father-in-law, so I will be in for a tough time over the next couple of days.
"Our performance, especially in the first half, was fantastic. We could have been three up.
"But all credit to them. They came up here in a cup tie, enjoyed the occasion, had a good go at Newcastle and in the end ran out worthy winners."
