    Bruce keen to land Djourou

    25 Jul 2007 - 15:04:17

Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has not given up hope of signing Arsenal defender Johan Djourou on a season-long loan arrangement.

The 20-year-old Switzerland international has already made 45 first-team appearances for the Gunners, but Arsene Wenger may be willing to let him move to St Andrew's to gain more Premier League experience.

"I've not spoken to Arsenal for a while about Djourou but I'll see where we are," Bruce told The Sun. "We're still hopeful something can be done."

Bruce signed Arsenal trio Nicklas Bendtner, Fabrice Muamba and Sebastian Larsson on season-long loan deals last term as the Blues clinched promotion from the Championship.

Such was the success of the triple swoop that Muamba and Larsson have since moved to the Premier League new boys on permanent deals.

Bruce has also signed Rafael Schmitz, Daniel de Ridder, Richard Kingson, Olivier Kapo, Garry O'Connor and Stuart Parnaby since the end of last season.
