Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has revealed his interest in signing unsettled Tottenham midfielder Hossam Ghaly.
The Egypt international's future at White Hart Lane was brought into question after he finished last season under a cloud.
Ghaly threw his shirt to the ground after being substituted in the penultimate game of the campaign against Blackburn Rovers and Bruce has admitted he has tabled a bid for the former Feyenoord midfielder.
"He's one we've enquired about," Bruce told the Birmingham Mail.
"He came to my attention a year ago when we had Tottenham in a pre-season friendly in the rain at St Andrew's.
"It was that game when (Dimitar) Berbatov played and scored a stunning goal.
"But my eye was caught by Ghaly and we've had him monitored since.
"As I said, we've made an enquiry, but it hasn't gone further - yet."
The 26-year-old joined Spurs in January 2006 and has made 34 appearances for Martin Jol's side.
