Bruce awaits keeper news
27 Sep 2007 - 11:28:59
Birmingham City manager Steve Bruce is anxiously awaiting news on the seriousness of the head injury suffered by Richard Kingson during their Carling Cup defeat at Blackburn.
The Ghana goalkeeper picked up a head injury after colliding with a post during the 3-0 defeat and was stretchered off at Ewood Park after receiving lengthy treatment.
Kingson was taken to hospital and Bruce has admitted he does not yet know the seriousness of the problem.
"It would be wrong for me to speculate yet," he said.
"He got a nasty knock on his head, but we're not sure how serious it is yet.
"He's in hospital at the moment which is the best place for him."
Blackburn manager Mark Hughes added: "You don't want to see guys taken off on a stretcher, and we've had situations ourselves this season when that has happened.
"It can have a detrimental effect on you. But there was no blame whatsoever, and I think the guy hit the post.
"There is obviously concern when he goes off on a stretcher but we hope he's okay."
