Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce has admitted that the deal to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido has run into difficulties, but remains hopeful that the transfer will eventually be completed.
The Blues had hoped to seal the signing of both Egypt frontman Mido and his compatriot and Spurs team-mate Hossam Ghaly in the near future, but Bruce is now concerned over the negotiations.
He said: "It does look as if we're drifting away. I've really tried my best, the club have tried their best and we'll attempt to persevere with it.
"But there's a lot of work to be done and we might have to look elsewhere, which would be a shame, but you never know."
However, he added of the attempt to land midfielder Ghaly: "We had meetings yesterday and negotiations are ongoing.
"I'm hopeful on that one, but again we'll have to wait and see."
