Birmingham City defender Franck Queudrue is set to spend two weeks on the sidelines after sustaining a hamstring strain.
The former Middlesbrough and Fulham player missed Saturday's 1-1 draw with rock-bottom Derby County after suffering the injury in training.
Blues manager Alex McLeish confirmed: "Queudrue picked up a hamstring strain on Friday and he'll probably be out for a couple of weeks.
"I brought David Murphy in against Derby and he did well so that was a plus point from a game we should have won."
McLeish remains confident his side can move away from the relegation zone, adding after the draw with the Rams: "We aren't getting what we deserve, and that's an absolute fact, certainly in the last two games at St Andrew's.
"Maybe Lady Luck will smile on us a bit more kindly in the coming weeks.
"There are a lot of young guys and this is a new experience for them but it's all part of their football education, and it's all part of the strength of their mentality.
"They've got a battle ahead. First and foremost, they have to have a certain amount of character within themselves but we can help them.
"There's no doubt about that and we can let them see their performances the day after the game and see how well they have done and that should be something that reinforces it.
"But if they've got the character, and I think there are a few in there I can trust, that can enhance their mentality."
