Birmingham City remain interested in Bobo Balde despite failing to land the Celtic defender in a protracted transfer saga.
The veteran Guinea defender was reported to have rejected a move to St Andrew's before the transfer window closed on Monday despite being told he is not wanted at Parkhead.
But despite the snub, Blues co-owner David Sullivan believes a deal for the towering defender remains a possibility.
"We were very close to Balde last week," he told the Birmingham Mail.
"We came to an agreement with the player. But it fell down over the settlement with Celtic. He couldn't come to an agreement with them.
"It may yet still happen at some point, but it depends on him and Celtic sorting things out."
