    Blues seal striker swoop

    07 Aug 2008 - 09:05:31

Birmingham City have wrapped up the loan signing of former Arsenal forward Quincy Owusu-Abeyie from Russian club Spartak Moscow.

The 22-year-old Ghanaian has joined the Blues initially until the end of the year, with a permanent deal in place if he impresses at St Andrew's.

Owusu-Abeyie made only a handful of appearances for the Gunners before heading to Russia at the end of January 2006.

He spent last season on loan at Spanish club Celta Vigo, while he has also broken into the Ghana national team set-up after playing at Under-21 level for the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, Blues defender Radhi Jaidi has been boosted by a scan revealing that he did not suffer a hamstring tear in the pre-season friendly against Fulham.

However, Jaidi remains a major doubt for the Championship opener against Sheffield United this weekend.
