Blues keen on Bougherra

Birmingham City are keen to secure the services of Sheffield Wednesday's highly-rated defender Madjid Bougherra. Charlton Athletic have already seen a £1.3million bid turned down by the Owls and now Birmingham have made an enquiry for the Algerian centre-half. "If Birmingham come in properly we'll be able to do a proper deal with them because I know their directors very well and we'll be able to deal with things sensibly," Wednesday chairman Dave Allen told BBC Radio Sheffield. "It depends what happens with Matthew Upson there. "I'd like the lad (Bougherra) to stay. Everyone would like him to stay. But at the end of the day if we get £3million for him it'll be a deal well done."
