Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is hopeful of keeping Sebastian Larsson at St Andrew's despite the club's relegation to the Championship.
Larsson was one the Blues' better performers after making 37 appearances and scoring six times in the recently completed season.
The 22-year-old is hoping to play a key role in Sweden's Euro 2008 campaign but, despite a summer in the spotlight, McLeish still believes the former Arsenal starlet will be with the Blues next season.
"I believe Seb is happy working with us and we're delighted with the progress he's made," he told the club's official website.
"A year in the Championship is not a disaster for any player.
"We've got to pay the Championship the utmost respect. It's one of the strongest leagues in the world."
