Blues hope to end with Michel

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is hoping to end his summer spending with the capture of Sporting Gijon midfielder Michel. McLeish has spent around £10million strengthening his newly-promoted squad during the summer with the likes of Christian Benitez, Giovanny Espinoza, Roger Johnson and Scott Dann all moving to St Andrew's. But should the Blues boss manage to snare Michel then it will bring an end to his work in the transfer market. The 23-year-old midfielder is the vice-captain at Gijon and has made more than 125 La Liga appearances. He confirmed: "Will Michel be the end of spending? I would think so because we have pushed the boat out for this. We have already gone over budgets. "I appreciate the board doing this but it's not done yet. "I don't know how far the dialogue has gone. This is the time where I let the board do their job. I don't get involved in that until such time where I say 'we've got a deal' or 'we've not got a deal'. "Michel is being courted by Spanish clubs but the boy has hung on. "He knew of our interest and he wants to come to England."
