Blues fail with Balde bid

Birmingham City have failed in their bid to lure Celtic defender Bobo Balde to St Andrew's.
Blues boss Alex McLeish was hoping to sign Balde for a nominal fee after the 32-year-old Guinea international was told he was not part of the first-team picture at the Scottish champions.
McLeish had offered the former Toulouse defender a two-year contract and was hopeful of completing the signing before the weekend.
However, Balde is reported to have decided to remain at Parkhead and see out the remaining ten months of his existing contract before leaving on a free transfer next summer.
