Blues complete loan double
01 Sep 2007 - 07:07:51
Birmingham City's deadline day business saw them snap up Honduras midfielder Wilson Palacios and Celta Vigo schemer Borja Oubina on long-term loan deals.
Palacios, 23, joins from Olimpia initially until the end of the year, with the option of a permanent deal if he impresses at St Andrew's.
He had been tracked by Arsenal, having won more than 40 caps for his country to date.
Twenty-five-year-old Spain international Oubina has signed a season-long loan deal, with the option of a permanent move also included in the deal.
He told his new club's official website: "I'm happy because I'm going to play in such a powerful and attractive league as the English one.
"It's true that I would have liked Celta to transfer me and not go out on loan, but the club didn't want that."
Meanwhile, Blues boss Steve Bruce is also running the rule over former Monaco and Internazionale striker Mohamed Kallon.
"Kallon is here and training with us," said Bruce. "At the moment he's got no club, so we're not in any rush to make a decision.
"He can stay with us for a week or so and we'll have a good look. He's something a little bit different to what we've got to offer up front."
