Birmingham City have agreed an undisclosed fee with Everton for Scotland striker James McFadden.
The Blues had seen an initial £3million bid for the 24-year-old forward rejected earlier in the week before increasing their offer on Thursday to a reported £5million.
Birmingham boss Alex McLeish managed McFadden during his time at the helm of the Scotland national side and recently revealed his interest in the striker.
"He's someone who fancies his chances, has bottle and the right mentality - and he definitely has the right sort of technique as well," he said.
McFadden joined the Toffees in a £1.75million deal from Motherwell in 2003.
He has made 137 appearances for the Merseysiders and scored 18 times.
Meanwhile, the Blues have also agreed a fee with Hibernian for full-back David Murphy.
The former Middlesbrough left-back will join the St Andrew's club for a fee believed to be in the £2million region.
