Birmingham City number two Eric Black believes the Blues would relish being clear at the top of the Championship table should they defeat promotion rivals Preston North End on Saturday.
The Blues have shrugged off an inconsistent start to the season to sit two points clear of their weekend opponents ahead of the St Andrew's clash.
Victory would move Steve Bruce's side five points clear and that is a position they would relish according to Black.
"Being at the top puts us under the kind of pressure we like," he told the club's official website.
"Ideally it's where we would want to be playing all our games from now to the end of the season.
"Does it add a little bit of pressure to maintain it and stay there? Maybe it does because people are coming here thinking Birmingham are at the top of the division and it might spur them on.
"It also balances itself out a little bit, because being top adds confidence as well."
