Bent leaves Blues on loan again

    01 Feb 2010 - 12:25:26

Birmingham City striker Marcus Bent has revealed that he jumped at the chance of moving to QPR on loan until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old, who has scored 110 goals in 545 appearances in all competitions for his 12 clubs, enjoyed a spell on loan with Middlesbrough earlier this term.

He told the Championship club's official website: "I've been hearing rumours about the possibility of the move for a few weeks to be honest, but nothing ever came of it.

"Then I got a call on Sunday asking if I'd be interested in joining QPR, and I jumped at it.

"I'm buzzing about coming here. I was brought up in Shepherds Bush and I used to go and watch the likes of Les Ferdinand and Andy Impey with my dad and my uncle.

"As a kid you often followed the likes of Liverpool, and John Barnes was my idol, but QPR was definitely a team I followed and looked out for.

"There might be a bit of pressure on me to come in and get goals, but I thrive on that to be honest. I think being under pressure beings the best out in you and I put great demands on myself anyway.

"I want to play games, that's what you train all week for - to be involved on a matchday. That's every footballer's goal, and is definitely the case with me.

"I played a few games with Middlesbrough this season, which was great because it really helped with my fitness. Now I'm feeling really fit and I'm ready to go, I can't wait to get started."
