Bendtner blues for City

Birmingham City's promotion charge has been knocked by the news that loan striker Nicklas Bendtner faces a spell on the sidelines with the ankle injury he picked up in Saturday's FA Cup third round clash with Newcastle United at St Andrew's. The highly-rated Dane damaged his ankle twisting on the muddy, rain-soaked pitch as the Blues battled back to earn a replay after a 2-2 draw. Blues boss Steve Bruce confirmed after the game: "The match had everything but the injury to Bendtner is a huge, huge loss and we fear the worst. We hope the scans will not reveal too much damage. "He fell down a hole in the pitch! Now we're ripping the pitch up and we hope that it will solve the problems."
