Agent - Birmingham want Camoranesi
The agent of Italy midfielder Mauro Camoranesi claims the player is the subject of an official approach from Birmingham.
The 33-year-old Argentina-born player has only one year remaining on his contract at Juventus and recently turned down a move to Spanish Primera Division newcomers Hercules. But his representative Sergio Fortunato insists a move away from the Stadio Delle Alpi is still likely, and that Blues are keen to bring Camoranesi to the Barclays Premier League.
"Birmingham? There was an official contact. A FIFA official gave me a letter from their directors. They have made a proposal and I discussed it Tuesday with Juve's leaders," he told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
"From Hercules, in reality, there was never anything official. But when I heard this, I have made it clear that Mauro wants something more than a newly-promoted team, with all due respect.
Camoranesi's annual salary of 2.5million euros provides a potential sticking point, but Fortunato added: "If Juve contribute, he may leave. It is in the hands of the Juventus directors, and I will meet them in the coming days."
Camoranesi has won 54 caps for his adopted country, scoring four goals, and has featured in two World Cups and two European Championships including the victorious World Cup campaign four years ago in Germany.
