Michael Johnson signed for Notts County as a teenager in 1991and spent 4 years at the club before making a move to Birmingham in 1995. He spent eight years at Birmingham, appearing in the 2001 Carling Cup Final and the Playoff Final in 2002. He played for Birmingham in the Premiership before signing for Derby in August 2003. Johnson has been a popular figure at derby and helped the club avoid relegation in 2003 and helped push for promotion in the 2004/2005 season. Johnson has been given the captains armband on several occasions but he is currently on the sidelines with a knee injury which will keep him out of action until March 2006.
