Westley hails Blues young guns

Almost 2,500 fans arrived at St Andrew's to see Luke Hubbins grab the only goal of the game with a superb effort just four minutes from time that booked a two-legged showdown with Liverpool. Reaching the last four represents a huge achievement for Westley and Blues, who are the only Championship club still left in the highly-regarded competition, and highlights the work he has done since taking over back in 2006. But he was quick to praise his Under-18 side after the victory secured the club's place in the competition's semi-finals for the first time since 1985. He told Blues' official website: "We beat a very good Watford side. For the way the lads worked and they way they've tried to change over a period of three years they deserve a lot of praise. "The staff and players have worked hard and shown real desire and togetherness. When I arrived three years ago the club's Academy didn't really have a high profile. Nobody really talked about Birmingham on the outside and this result certainly helps raise the profile."
